Let’s step back and look at this from a different angle. Psychologist will tell you that we choose a Halloween costume to match our alter ego. People who choose to portray themselves as the bad guys from a TV show like Star Trek are telling you that they wish in real life they could act in this manner with no ramifications. We all know that the bad guy at the end gets his just deserved.
In BC we have all types of people from all around the world. Each of us perceives the game in our own way. We group together with those that share similar personalities, beliefs, motives and goals. Now I’m not picking on anyone here so please don’t get me wrong. We all have that right, so we must accept those out there that if they wish to play with the mentality of an eight year old, believing that they can act in any fashion and not be held accountable. It isn’t their fault that they didn’t get enough moral and ethical guidance as the majority of us. I was taught to ignore those types of people.
The problem that most people have is that we allow people to have power over us. We allow their words to affect us. We allow them to take up rent in our heads. When you stop allowing them to have power over you then they become powerless. Only you can reach into your mind and flip that switch off. The more they wave their hands and shout they are just trying to get back in and regain the power you once gave them. Close the door and walk away and they are silent.
If any of us know of these types of people in BC my advice to you is simple. Close the door don’t let them in. Do not give them the power over you. Do not let them provoke you into the response they are waiting for. They will insult you to get your attention but since you have the power to turn off that switch and any thing they say or do will not affect you.
