Hassling Independents
A friend who happens to be an independent asked me last night on Team Speak what I would think if he joined a clan. And I being so frugal with my words told him what I thought. LOL
He said that he is constantly being hassled in most servers that he attends so he feels that if he were to join a clan then he would be safe and someone to help him and watch over him.
My reply was this, “If you feel that you need others to make you feel like a whole person then by all means join a clan. I mean if you need to have a security blanket then pop a pacifier in your mouth and have fun.” I also warned him that some clans purposely hassle independents to get them to join their clans.
Now there isn’t thing wrong being in a clan. Most people enjoy being in a clan. There are those of us such as my self that do not need or want to be in a clan. It is easier for some to join a clan than to stand alone as I do and host a server. The advantages of hosting a server is that you are the boss and in control of your environment. When you join someone else’s server you are at their mercy.
Being an independent is not the easy way but it is the one that I have chosen. Sometimes I set alone waiting for people to join but once they start coming in it fills up quickly. It took about 2 months for my server to be an icon in the BC community and it was worth the wait. Toga is another example of setting up a server as an open port for all to join.
Be in a clan if you want to not because you feel that you need to. Don’t let others dictate your actions; do not give them control over your person. Do what you want and do it your way.
The last time I was on I had a guest come in and asked me to duel. During the duel he disabled my sensors and of course I Nav pointed to make repairs. He called me a runner and told me he never runs. My reply was, “That is your choice mine is to make repairs and come back to win the duel if I can.” And I did win the duel at the end. Now if he would have destroyed my sensors during the duel I would have let him have his prize. The point here is; it is my server and my rules and if you don’t like it then set up your own server and play by your own. You can use the same tactics against me because all is fair in love and war.
To clan or not to clan that is the question. Do it if you WANT TO not because you HAVE TO!
